Yesterday I achieved a 6th place in the IRONMAN 70.3 Luxembourg. A result which satisfies me since only 2 weeks ago I took part in the full IRONMAN France.
The race was transformed into a duathlon, due to the recent floods in the region it was absolutely not possible to swim in the river Mosel with this strong current. For most of us it was a long time ago but a nice alternative. After the first run (5 km) we were about 15 athletes to start the bike part.
I missed the pure power and speed to follow the leader on the bike but was able to join the first group into next transition. In the same way as in IRONMAN Nice it took a while before I got the good pace when running, but after halfway in the run I was able to catch up athletes and moved from 11th to 6th place.
I'm very pleased to recover so fast after the race in Nice, which I couldn't prepare in ideal conditions either. With this good base condition I can work steadily to become stronger for the 2nd part of the season.
Next race: IRONMAN 70.3 Sweden - Sunday 10th July
