Victory at IRONMAN 70.3 Sables d'Olonne

What a great day it was. I won't start my newsletter with a race report but with congratulating the entire team that organized this new race. It was just perfect with a fantastic atmosphere. If you have a bucket list, you need to put this race on it!

This victory makes me more than proud, winning this race in front of people who support me for years is just exceptional. The swim start was very fast and I was happy to follow the chasing group. Right from the start of the bike I had a great and powerful feeling in the legs. It didn't take me long to catch the leaders who were just over one minute ahead. Once in the lead I tried to maximize the gap since I knew there were some very strong runners in the field. 

Starting the half marathon with an advantage of over 5 minutes made me able to start at a tight pace without getting to deep into my reserves. The last kilometers running between the masses of spectators I could really enjoy this victory at my home club LSVT. 

Now all eyes on recovery and IRONMAN Nice in two weeks.
