VICTORY AT IRONMAN LANZAROTE

IRONMAN Lanzarote ... what a legendary and brutal race! I’m really happy and proud to add this one to my resume. My 9th Ironman title so far.

Plenty of people warned me before, don’t overdo it - especially not in the beginning! That was exactly what I did the whole day long. I felt in control and I could execute my plan.

I was in the front of the race in the swim part, without pushing too hard. 3rd out of the water. In control on the bike section without being in the very front the whole time. Although I was the first to put my bike in 2nd transition. And in the end, patience in the marathon, by only taking the lead at km mark 20.

My splits: 50min + 5h01 + 2h53 + 2 transitions = 8h51 finish time

I’ll be back at racing soon with IRONMAN 70.3 Les Sables in 3 weeks and IRONMAN France (Nice) in 5 weeks time! Recovery, with a mental confidence boost, is coming up for me now.
